I am so excited to be able to create a sacred space like Rooted Souls for all to experience the healing impact of creativity, love, and community. I love to paint, journal, read, write, be present with my family, share stories, drink coffee/hot tea, create authentic community, and feel connected to the Holy Spirit. I live in the country with my nature lovin' husband and three creative and spirited daughters."

Joining Rooted Souls in January 2017, Rick Long, MSW, M.Div., began a career in human services in 1974. That 43 years of experience has led to working with a wide expanse of human suffering and struggles that include trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety, and more recently spiritual wellness and recovery. From child and adolescent, to family-based counseling, to adult and marriage/relationship issues, to elder care and the end of life journey, Rick has developed a passion to provide value-based, individualized counseling, and personal retreat services to those across the lifespan and who are in need.
Rick says, " I have spent my entire career committed to helping bring a solid foundation of skill combined with compassion, and a felt sense of what it is like to struggle, to come from a family where trauma was the norm, and to seek a spiritual path that truly heals and connects."
"My mentor, Sharon Wegscheider-Cruse, very directly taught all of us who were entering the addictions and family therapy field that we must do our own therapy work before we had the right to help others. This led me into my own personal healing work that has now included 35 years of person and spiritual recovery."
Rick completed his second Masters degree in Divinity (M.Div,) in 2015, and combined with his MSW, has developed a comprehensive approach to helping others in the healing process. Rick will be providing retreats for individuals and couples, along with individual counseling and relationship/couples counseling at Rooted Souls.
